The Manchester Unity Building
Smile Solutions is the custodian and primary occupant of the Manchester Unity Building — one of Melbourne's most celebrated Art Deco heritage buildings, constructed in 1932 under the direction of architect Marcus Barlow in just 8 months.
Dr Kia Pajouhesh has been the Chairman of the Manchester Unity Building Owners Corporation since 2003, when he first acquired Level 1 and began the practice's now-famous restoration of the building's original grandeur. The restoration has been featured in Architecture Australia, the Australian Financial Review, The Age, and the Australian Financial Review.
The building includes:
- Level 1 mezzanine arcade — restored with Italian marble, copper leaf signage sourced from an artisan in southern NSW, and original Art Deco shop fronts converted to 12 dental suites
- Level 11 boardroom — restored Grand Secretary's boardroom with the original 1932 Queensland Maple table (5.9 metres long, built on-site and too large to ever be removed); described as "the most intact Art Deco boardroom in the world"
- The Gothic tower — 64 metres high, with panoramic 360-degree views of Melbourne CBD; houses Collins Street Orthodontics
Practice Layout — Five Levels Plus the Tower
Smile Solutions operates 40 surgical suites across our building footprint:

You'll notice the Art Deco marble walls, restored copper lifts, and leadlight windows — not what most patients expect from a dental practice. Comfortable seating, complimentary water and refreshments, and Wi-Fi are available.
For orthodontic appointments: take the lift to Level 12 and the tower. For specialist appointments: take the lift to Level 8 (Collins Street Specialist Centre).

The laboratory works exclusively for Smile Solutions patients — no offshore work, no commercial lab sharing.
